Edinburgh
After 800 miles (1300 km), we have now reached our final destination: Edinburgh (Gaelic: Dùn Eideann), and it is time to deliver the Golf back to Avis. We have had a fantastic roadtrip!
Edinburgh is, with 500,000 inhabitants, the second largest town in Scotland (after Glasgow), and has been the capital of Scotland since 1437.
Edinburgh is the seat of the Scottish government, which was refounded in 1999. Edinburgh's old town and new town together have been listed as a UNESCO World Site since 1995.
The town was besieged and taken by the English in 638 AD, and changed the name to Edinburgh.
